Ancient Rome & Colosseum Underground

Meet your passionate guide in the lobby of The Goethe Hotel.
Our professional guide will explain the history of Rome and introduce you to some of the most notorious Roman emperors. The Palatine Hill is where the city of Rome was founded and the place that became the most exclusive neighbourhood where emperors and patrician families built opulent palaces. The Roman Forum was for centuries the center of Roman public and economic life, where the most important structures of the ancient city were located. Also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, the Colosseum is one of the most famous monuments in the world; it was used for gladiatorial fights (murena), wild animal hunts (venationes) and, with the arena filled with water, simulated sea battles (naumachiae). You will then enjoy a private tour of the Colosseum Underground with special access to the Gladiator’s Arena and the Underground’s Backstage during Ancient Rome. Your historian guide will walk you through a partial reconstruction of the arena floor, where the gladiatorial fights, animal combats, hunts and executions took place. Get the rare chance to follow the steps of the gladiators and enjoy a panoramic view from the arena floor. With our special access to the underground, you can enjoy the visit to the fullest with access to areas that are typically closed to the general public.
